Cristiano Ronaldo promises to come back much stronger

Cristiano Ronaldo promises that he’ll be stronger than ever once he comes back from injury.

One of the most memorable moments from Portugal’s win over France at Euro 2016 is when Cristiano Ronaldo was seen crying on the pitch after he was forced to leave the game injured. When the final whistle blew, he was crying again, this time tears of joy since his dream of winning in a Portugal shirt was finally realized, but it still must have been devastating for him to not be a part of it.

While initial reports of Ronaldo’s injury had him out for most of Real Madrid’s season, that won’t be the case. He’ll only miss Real Madrid’s preseason fixtures and the first three weeks of the La Liga campaign, but when he comes back, he’ll be a man on a mission. That part was made abundantly clear in Ronaldo’s most recent Instagram video addressing his fans:

The video, courtesy of NBC Sports, roughly translates to “Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank all my fans. I wanted to tell them that all is well and that I will come back much stronger. Thank you, long live Portugal!”

Having won both the Champions League and Euro 2016, and playing a vital role in both of those wins, Ronaldo should be considered the front-runner for the Ballon d’Or. But if he can come back from his injury and put up big scoring totals, like he’s used to doing, then that should sway the voters even further.

No matter what happens, Cristiano Ronaldo’s first game back on the pitch will be one of the biggest stories of the upcoming La Liga season.
