MLB Trade Deadline: 5 best spots for Brian Dozier
The Minnesota Twins are clearly sellers as the trade deadline approaches, so could second baseman Brian Dozier be on the move?
With the worst record in the American League, and after firing general manager Terry Ryan on Monday, the Minnesota Twins are clearly sellers as the MLB non-waiver trade deadline approaches on Aug. 1.
The Twins have a few players that could drive interest from contending teams, from starting pitcher Ervin Santana to All-Star infielder Eduardo Nunez and catcher Kurt Suzuki, but second baseman Brian Dozier could also be someone interim general manager Rob Antony will be fielding calls about.
After a slow start this year Dozier has turned things around since June 1, with a .297/.374/.594 slash-line (.968 OPS), 10 home runs and 30 RBI over 41 games since then. That recent stretch has put Dozier into the team lead in home runs (15) and RBI (47), and he’s back to offering rare power production to go along with adequate defense at second base.
Dozier would be more than a rental for any acquiring team, at 29 years old with two more years at a reasonable cost ($15 million) left on his contract. With that in mind, here are five teams that could have serious interest in trading for Dozier.
