3. New York Mets

The Mets are tied for the National League lead in home runs (127), but they are third-to-last in runs scored (348; 3.78 per game) and they are middle of the back in team OPS (.723) and total bases.

Neil Walker does not deserve to be supplanted at second base, particularly due to his offensive production (16 home runs, 40 RBI and a .423 slugging percentage so far this season). But he could shift to third base if Dozier is acquired, with Wilmer Flores moving into a valuable multi-position role, and the Mets’ lineup should be better overall with first baseman Lucas Duda apparently not close to returning from a back injury.

The spotlight of New York would obviously be a big change for Dozier, as would being part of a team with legitimate aspirations to make a deep postseason run. But the Mets need to bolster their offense to have much of a chance to catch the Washington Nationals in the National League East, with a 6.5 game deficit right now, and they could offer a young starting pitcher (Zack Wheeler?) to spur interest in a deal from the Twins.
