4. Robert Kraft

Robert Kraft’s name should 100 percent come up in any conversation about Goodell’s replacement—and not just because those two men have a relatively well-known relationship. The CEO of Kraft and the owner of the New England Patriots is one of the most recognizable figures in the NFL, and someone who has turned his franchise into a dynasty.

Patriots haters will point out that Kraft has been involved in the many scandals involving the Patriots over the years (see Deflategate, Spygate, etc.) and that he’s been in bed with Goodell for all these years as well. And while those are valid criticisms, there’s still plenty to be said for how beloved Kraft is by his own players in the New England organization. More than that, he’s obviously one of the most successful owners in the league, which will give him the respect of the other owners.

This would definitely be a long shot, simply because of the public perception of Kraft and the sort of disdain so many fans have for the Patriots. That being said, he has all the qualifications of a good commissioner and would at least warrant consideration.
