FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-July 19
First Baseman
High-Salary Option: David Ortiz-Boston Red Sox (4,100): Ortiz hit a huge three-run homer last night against the Giants as the Red Sox took the series opener. He finished with 25.7 fantasy points and has at least 18 fantasy points in five of his last ten contests.
Ortiz enters tonight 13-47 (.277) in July with three homers and a 1.024 OPS. His OPS for the season is 1.091 overall, 1.186 against righties (like San Francisco starter Matt Cain), and 1.232 at Fenway Park. He is a good play again tonight if you can spend over 4K on a 1B bat. ∗∗∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Albert Pujols-Los Angeles Angels (3,200): Pujols has four homers in his last three games after hitting two more long balls last night against the Angels. Pujols is nowhere near Big Papi’s numbers on the year (.778 OPS), but he has shown some nice pop in July going 15-54 (.278) with three doubles, five homers, and 21 RBI. He’ll face lefty Martin Perez tonight, and has been better all year against southpaws going 23-84 (.274) with a .862 OPS.∗∗∗
High-Value Option: Tommy Joseph-Philadelphia Phillies (2,500): Joseph is a great play if he gets the start again tonight for the Phillies. He has started July red-hot in his limited action going 14-33 (.424) with five homers. All five of those homers have come in his last eight games including another homer last night while going 2-3 to raise his average to .264 on the year. Joseph has crushed lefties all year going 15-42 (.357) against them with a 1.114 OPS. Wei-Yin Chen gets the start tonight for the Marlins, and Joseph enters the game 3-3 with a homer against Chen in his career. Joseph is a great play tonight as long as the Phillies give him another start at 1B. ∗∗∗∗∗
Bonus Bargain Basement Option: Clint Robinson-Washington Nationals (2,300): Robinson went 1-3 last night against the Dodgers and erased some of the sting of going 0-7 on Sunday. He has gone 6-27 in his last seven games with a pair of homers, and if he starts tonight against Bud Norris he’ll be one of the better cheap 1B fliers on the board tonight.∗
