Second Baseman

High-Salary Option: Daniel Murphy-Washington Nationals (3,500): Murphy went 2-4 with a a pair of doubles last night in the Nationals’ loss finishing with 15.5 fantasy points. He has at least that many in each of his last four games and at least nine fantasy points in eight of his last ten.

Murphy is 6-18 (.333) with two homers against Bud Norris in his career giving him an OPS of 1.000 even against the righty and making Murphy the best play money can buy at 2B tonight.

Mid-Range Option: Starlin Castro-New York Yankees  (3,100): Castro drove in four runs last night with a double and a home run.  He has started off swinging a hot bat after the All Star break going 6-17 (.353) with three doubles, that home run, and five RBI.  Tonight, he and the Yankees take on Yovani Gallardo who he has gone 16-41 (.390) against in his career.  Castro and the Yankees will be looking to take their third straight from Baltimore, and he makes a good play based on form and BvP numbers.

Mid-Range Option: Howie Kendrick-Los Angeles Dodgers (2,900): Kendrick has an eleven-game hitting streak coming into tonight’s matchup against the Nationals. He has multiple hits in four of his last five games and has at least nine fantasy points in nine straight.  Kendrick has hit lefties a little better than righties this year, so he’s a solid option against southpaw Gio Gonzalez tonight.

High Value Option: Jonathan Schoop-Baltimore Orioles (2,700): Schoop homered Monday before taking the collar yesterday as the O’s lost in the Bronx.  He’ll look to get back involved in the offense tonight against Michael Pineda.  Schoop is still 17-57 (.298) this month with four doubles and three homers even after yesterday’s 0-4.  His .845 OPS is a nice pickup at this price especially since he has doubled and homered against Pineda in the past while going 2-10 (.200). ∗∗
