Shortstop

High-Salary Option: Carlos Correa-Houston Astros (3,800): Correa has over 15 fantasy points in three straight games and in five of his last nine contests after a nice West Coast swing to start the second half.  Correa wen 7-19 (.368) on the trip with four doubles, five walks, and seven RBI while adding in a couple stolen bases.  He is hitting .266 on the season with a .829 OPS. He has posted good numbers against the Angels this year (12-30, .400, 4 HR, 18 RBI) but is just 3-11 (.273) in his career against Matt Shoemaker.∗∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Xander Bogaerts-Boston Red Sox  (3,700): Bogaerts started the month a little slow, but he has back-to-back multi-hit games and is 7-27 (.259) since the All Star break. He is especially effective at Fenway Park where he has hit .330 this season with a .880 OPS. HE hasn’t been quite as on-fire as he was in May, but he continues to hit at the heart of a very productive offense that is in a good matchup tonight.

Mid-Range Option: Jonathan Villar-Milwaukee Brewers  (3,500): Villar went 1-4 with a homer yesterday in Pittsburgh giving him seven long balls on the season.  He has gone 8-23 (.348) since the All Star break while also adding three stolen bases. Villar has yet to get a hit in three plate appearances against tonight’s starter Jason Hammel, but he’s going along well enough to be a solid play at this price tonight.

High-Value Option: Elvis Andrus-Texas Rangers (2,900): Andrus has started July out strong for the Rangers going 17-50 (.340) with a homer, five walks, and ten runs scored. He has been even better this year against southpaws going 28-76 (.368) with a .961 OPS against lefties like tonight’s KC starter Danny Duffy.  Duffy has been throwing the ball well lately, but he’s in a rough matchup in Texas and I think ands and the rest of the Rangers will be able to get to him tonight. ∗∗∗∗

High-Value Option: Javy Baez-Chicago Cubs (2,800): Another great option at just under 3K is Javy Baez who has picked things up lastly for the Cubs hitting safely in seven straight games with at least nine fantasy points in eight of his last ten appearances.  Baez is 8-18 (.444) since the All Star break and 3-6 in his career against tonight’s starter Jimmy Nelson. ∗∗
