Shortstop

High-Salary Option: Trevor Story-Colorado Rockies (4,000): Story his back to hitting home runs on a regular basis on the Rockies’ current homestand.  He has three homers in his last five games and now has 24 on the year.  His OPS is up to .897 overall and 1.009 at home. He hasn’t faced Matt Wisler in his career, but the Rockies should be primed for an offensive explosion tonight and Story has a ton of upside to love.

Mid-Range Option: Aledmys Diaz-St. Louis Cardinals (3,500): Diaz is another SS play to consider as he comes into tonight with four straight multi-hit games and at least 12 fantasy points in six of his last nine contests.  Diaz doesn’t have the power potential of Story, but he is a very consistent fantasy option and has gone 22-67 (.328) this month with three homers.∗∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Francisco Lindor-Cleveland Indians  (3,400): Lindor hasn’t been quite as consistent as Diaz but he is a key contributor for the Tribe.  He has started July 19-66 (.288) with five doubles, two homers, and ten RBI.  He has been better at home than on the road, but you can still use him tonight against Kevin Gausman and the O’s since he is hitting .301 overall on the season with an .819 OPS.  Lindor went 2-4 last night and has hit safely in eight of his last ten games.

High-Value Option: Javier Baez-Chicago Cubs (2,800): It’ll be interesting to see how the Cubs work in Baez now that Dexter Fowler is back.  He was left out of last night’s lineup, but I expect him to be back in there tonight against Zach Davies.  Baez is 8-18 (.444) since the All Star break and 1-2 in his career against tonight’s starter Jimmy Nelson. If he starts, he’ll be a nice value play.

High-Value Option: J.J. Hardy-Baltimore Orioles (2,500): Hardy has been picking things up lately with multiple hits in each of his last three games and six of his last ten. He has gone a solid 21-61 (.344) with two homers and 11 RBI this month and is 9-26 (.346) over the last week.  He has homered in his career against tonight’s starter Josh Tomlin as part of a 2-9 track record against him.  If you have to go cheap at SS, Hardy is a great value to go with as the Orioles look to pick up their third win in a row as they face the Indians at home in Camden Yards
