High Salary OF

Mike Trout-Los Angeles Angels (4,400): Trout had a quiet night last night going 0-3 with a walk in the Angels loss in Houston.  Tonight, he’ll look to get back in the groove since he had reeled off four straight games with 15+ fantasy points before that letdown.  He has a great history against Houston’s starter Collin McHugh coming into tonight 6-17 against him with two doubles, a triple, and two homers for a 1.330 OPS. It’s a small sample size, but definitely enough to make Trout a good target if you’re spending big at one of your OF spots. ∗∗

Carlos Gonzalez-Colorado Rockies (4,200): Another big-money to check out is Carlos Gonzalez who went 1-3 last night with a walk and a run scored to finish with 9.2 fantasy points. He has at least that many fantasy points in four of his last five games and seven of his last ten.  He matches up well against Matt Wisler and could be in for a big night if the Rockies go off offensively.  Gonzalez is  now 8-26 since the All Star break, but is an even more impressive 64-178 (.360) at home this year with a 1.105 OPS.

George Springer-Houston Astros (4,000): Springer went 1-4 last night and drop in a run bringing his total on the year to 56 even though he usually leads off.  He has 21 homers on the season with four this month and is 16-65 (.246) overall in July. Tonight, he’ll face Jered Weaver who he is 8-18 against in his career with a pair of homers and three RBI giving him a stout 1.333 OPS.  If you can’t quite fit Trout or CarGo in your salary constraints, look at Springer to get the Astros offense started tonight.

Jackie Bradley Jr.-Boston Red Sox (3,600): JBJ went 0-3 last night and struggled along with the rest of the Red Sox.  He was producing nicely before that, though, and he is now 18-61 (.295) in July and 7-22 (.318) over the last week.  Bradley is 0-2 in his career against Nolasco, but he could be needed to help pick up the slack if Mookie Betts is sidelined after leaving last night with a sore knee.

Ian Desmond-Texas Rangers (3,500): Desmond had back-to-back games of over 30 fantasy points before taking an oh-fer yesterday against lefty Danny Duffy.  Tonight, he’ll look to get back on track against Yordano Ventura who has never faced in his career.  Desmond is hitting .316 on the season with a .898 OPS, and he’s swinging a hot bat with three homers in his last five games.

Tyler Naquin-Cleveland Indians (3,400): Naquin has been hot this month and kept rolling last night even though the Indians couldn’t get much going on offense.  He went 2-4 with a double last night and is now 17-52 (.327) in July and 9-18 (.500) over the last week. He has five homers in his last nine games and five multi-hit games in his last ten.  He a hit in five straight games with two home runs in his last three.  He will be in a tough matchup against Kevin Gausman tonight, but the lefty is hitting .338 with a 1.054 OPS against righties so far this season.

Dexter Fowler-Chicago Cubs (3,300): Fowler came back with a bang off the DL last night going 3-4 with a double, home run, and three RBI.  He totaled 40.9 fantasy points in his return and will look to get the Cubs started again tonight from his typical spot atop the Cubs lineup.  After missing over a month, there still may be some rust to shake off, but he looked great last night.
