4. Deal Carlos Beltran while stock is high

When you look at Carlos Beltran’s stats on the season, you would think he rewound his career about 10 years. Heck, he put up numbers like this when he was still with the Kansas City Royals or the New York Mets.

As of Saturday afternoon, Beltran is hitting a healthy .305 with 20 home runs and 61 RBI. He’s on pace to have his best season since 2007 with the Mets when he hit just .276 with 33 homers and 112 RBI.

The 38-year-old outfielder still has a little something left in the tank, and you can bet that a World Series contender would deal some major pieces in order to get him in their lineup for the stretch run. Not many veteran outfielders have playoff experience and are having seasons like he’s having.

The Yankees haven’t made it clear whether they want to deal Beltran, but while his stock is this high, it’d be silly to hold onto him. He’s only got a year or two left, but he’s playing like he’s 27 years old again. He needs to be dealt for some young pieces while his stock is this high.

Will the Yankees make the right decision by moving him before the deadline or will they hold onto him until he retires, hoping he has a couple more of these type of seasons left in him?
