1. Boone Logan

Overall, Logan is probably the best fit for the Indians this year. He comes in with a similar situation to why the Indians would want to acquire Will Smith. They are looking for any type of left handed relief pitching.

Logan comes in with a 2.61 ERA on the season to date. However, his peripherals show he has been a better pitcher than Smith this season. Logan is striking out over ten batters per nine and walking about three. Smith is striking out a little over eight per nine, and has walked over four hitters. Logan has a FIP of 1.91 and Smith has a FIP of 3.84. Both have had to miss a stint with injury, but Logan has thrown nine more innings this year. Then there is the fact that Logan has been pitching at Coors Field, and anywhere away from that should only improve his numbers.

The advantage Smith would have is that he is under team control through 2019, while Logan is a free agent this off-season. That said, adding an injury this season into renting him for half of a season means that he could be had for cheaper than expected. The Indians could find themselves a bargain in Logan, and he is the perfect fit for what this team is looking for moving into the trade deadline.
