DraftKings fantasy golf picks: PGA Championship 2016
7,500-7,000
Scott Piercy (7,400): Piercy torched his owners at The Open blowing up with 77-81 to miss the cut by a wide margin. He was coming off of consecutive runner-up finishes at the WGC-Bridgestone and the U.S. Open, so he’ll look to return to that form and erase an ugly trip to Scotland. Piercy is 4/5 making the cut at the PGA Championship with a career-best t5 back in 2013. He has shown he can contend with elite fields, but his inconsistency makes him high-risk.
Charl Schwartzel (7,300): The steady South African finished t18 at Royal Troon for his fifth straight top-25. That run includes the Dean & DeLuca (t25), the Memorial (t11), the U.S. Open (t23), the WGC-Bridgestone (t70), and The Open. Schwartzel has a career top-ten in every Major Championship except the PGA Championship although he has finished in the teens in three of the last six years.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello (7,300): Cabrera-Bello faded over the weekend to a t39 at The Open shooting a 75-74 in his last two rounds. He came to The Open in good form with a t21 at the Scottish Open and a solo-fourth at the Open de France. Cabrera-Bello has bounced back and forth from the PGA to the European Tour throughout the season and put together solid results throughout the summer.
Jason Dufner (7,100): Dufner has made the cut in eight straight appearances dating back to The Masters. Four of his last six tournaments have resulted in top-25’s including strong finishes at the U.S. Open (t8) and The Open Championship (t22). Dufner has found success at the PGA Championship in the past with three top-5 finishes in the last six years including a runner-up finish in 2011 and his one career Major Championship in 2013 at Oak Hill. Duffer picked up his first win since then at the CareerBuilder Challenge earlier this season, and he’s a nice play at this price given his solid track record at the PGA Championship.
Bill Haas (7,100): Haas turned in a top ten at The Open Championship despite a Sunday 75. His t9 was his highest career mark at a Major Championship of any kind. Haas has managed to make the cut in each of the last five PGA Championships, and he’ll look for more Major success this week at Balustrol.\
