AL Rookie of the Year

1. player. 63.
I’m not sure that anyone would have projected Fulmer to sit atop this list in late July, but here we are. The 23-year-old starter holds a fairly comfortable lead over the field by nature of a 2.41 ERA in 15 starts (89.2 innings), and Fulmer has actually been a top-5 starter in the AL according to bWAR (3.4). He’s not as good as that particular number indicates but Fulmer has been incredibly impressive and the Tigers have needed his production in the worst way.
. SP. Detroit Tigers. Michael Fulmer

95.
Mazara’s lengthy slump torpedoed his chances of landing in the top spot (at least for now), but it’s still been an impressive debut for the 21-year-old. There are signs that the talented outfielder could be coming alive, and Mazara has a very respectable .285/.340/.424 slash line as an everyday player for a potential playoff team. His hot start has evaporated, but the talent and production are quite real.
. OF. Texas Rangers. Nomar Mazara. 3. player
