The Rio Olympics already have numerous issues ahead of the latest edition of the Summer games due to health and political concerns in Brazil but now there also seems to be a drug concern to watch out for.

With the Zika virus and ongoing political instability threatening to make the 2016 Summer Olympics one of the most disastrous in recent history, a new issue has recently popped up. Reportedly Rio drug dealers are using the Olympics rings logo on their bags of cocaine in order to try to push more product during a time of increased visitors in the area.

The bags are also trademarked with a fake “Rio 2016” on them. Additional text on the Olympic-themed bag includes “use longe das criancas” which loosely translates to “use away from children,” for those who really needed the safety warning in the first place.

It was first reported that police seized 93 bags this past Monday with some of the bags in that bunch including these logos and markings on them. It’s unknown how many are out in circulation or whether arrests have been made of the individuals who are selling them.

While the attempted creativity of the dealers is definitely on display, this also brings more attention to a drug problem in Rio which will possibly be discussed with the Zika virus issue, as well as the government and financial problems that have been ongoing. It’s not surprising that a good number of high profile athletes have chosen to not represent their countries under all the circumstances that are going on in Brazil.
