As the Washington fan base mourned the passing of Redskins superfan “Chief Zee”, owner Dan Snyder decided to honor him by footing the bill for his funeral
The NFL has many who go above and beyond what anyone asked them to do in terms of fandom. Chief Zee was one of those fans. Upon news of his passing earlier this month, many in the Redskins organization felt the loss. Santana Moss laid a bouquet of flowers next to his casket. He wasn’t any ordinary superfan — the Redskins loved him.
According to Carol Maloney of NBC 4, the anonymous donor that paid for his funeral was none other than Redskins’ owner Dan Snyder.
Dan Snyder has come under fire for his position on the offensiveness of the nickname and mascot “Redskins”. He’s famously refused to change the name, saying that the history of the nickname is enough for it to remain in position, despite public outcry.

Snyder isn’t a monster lurking in the night. Most people generally aren’t. Whether you think he’s making a grievous error with the name “Redskins” or whether you think he’s fighting for history, this is an act of kindness that should be lauded.
Zema “Chief Zee” Williams’s funeral made it seem like he was a member of the franchise instead of just a fan. Many people from within the organization came to pay their respects to one of Washington’s biggest fans. In the end, it ended in the best way possible: with a rendition of “Hail to the Redskins”.
