DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-July 27
High Salary OF
Dexter Fowler-Chicago Cubs (5,300): Fowler has gone 4-17 (.235) since returning to the Cubs from his DL stint. He hasn’t had a huge game since his 3-4 return with a HR, but he continues to hit leadoff and should be able to post good numbers tonight since I think the Cubs offense will celebrate their return to Wrigley with a big game against Anthony Ranaudo and the White Sox. He definitely has potential, but it’s a steep price to pay at this price point.∗
Ian Desmond-Texas Rangers (5,100): Desmond is extremely expensive tonight which raises the risk factor, but he is in a great place to produce as he faces Sean Manaea and the A’s. On the season, Desmond is 39-100 (.390) against southpaws like Manaea and has a 1.011 OPS against them. He has also been much more effective at home (.363 average, .987 OPS) than on the road (.260 average, .786 OPS). Desmond and the Rangers are at home against a lefty which is enough to drive his price over 5K despite a .185 (5-27) stretch over the last week. ∗∗
Starling Marte-Pittsburgh Pirates (4,900): Marte has picked things up lately and is 7-19 (.368) over the past week while also swiping five stolen bases in his last ten games. He has been hitting cleanup lately for Pittsburgh, but he still brings plenty of speed to the table. He has hit safely in four of his last five starts with extra base hits in three of those contests. Tonight, he and the Pirates will look to bounce back from last night’s loss as they take on James Paxton and the Mariners. ∗∗
Mike Trout-Los Angeles Angels (4,600): If you don’t quite have the coin to spend on Desmond, Trout is a good option too although he faces a tougher lefty in Danny Duffy of the Royals. However, Trout has good career numbers against Duffy coming in 3-6 with a double and a home run. He has managed to put up double digit fantasy points in six of his last nine games and is leading the Angels on a little bit of a surge since the All Star break (8-3).∗∗∗∗
Kole Calhoun-Los Angeles Angels (3,800): Calhoun has had a nice season batting #2 in the Angels lineup and has especially had success against lefties. Calhoun is 29-94 (.309) southpaws this year with a .860 OPS. Tonight, he’ll take on lefty Danny Duffy who he is 0-3 against in his career, but Calhoun is coming off a big game last night in which he went 2-5 with a double and four RBI. The Angels lineup has bee productive lately and with Trout and Pujols behind him, Calhoun has some definite fantasy value. ∗∗∗
Adam Eaton-Chicago White Sox (3,800): Adam Eaton is another option from the front end of a productive lineup who is also a good play tonight since he is 9-26 (.346) over the last week with a pair of homers and six RBI. He homered yesterday while going 1-3 against the Cubs and raised his OPS to .958 since the All Star break. He hasn’t faced Jason Hammel before, but his recent hot streak makes him worth considering at this price tonight. ∗∗
