FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-July 27
High Salary OF
Ian Desmond-Texas Rangers (5,100): Desmond is extremely expensive tonight which raises the risk factor, but he is in a great place to produce as he faces Sean Manaea and the A’s. On the season, Desmond is 39-100 (.390) against southpaws like Manaea and has a 1.011 OPS against them. He has also been much more effective at home (.363 average, .987 OPS) than on the road (.260 average, .786 OPS). Desmond and the Rangers are at home against a lefty which is enough to drive his price over 5K despite a .185 (5-27) stretch over the last week. ∗∗
Mike Trout-Los Angeles Angels (4,200): If you don’t quite have the coin to spend on Desmond, Trout is a good option too although he faces a tougher lefty in Danny Duffy of the Royals. However, Trout has good career numbers against Duffy coming in 3-6 with a double and a home run. He has managed to put up at least 15 fantasy points in six of his last nine games and is leading the Angels on a little bit of a surge since the All Star break (8-3).∗∗∗
Carlos Beltran-New York Yankees (3,700): Beltran has enjoyed his return to Houston so far going 4-9 with a double and a run scored in the Yankees’ first two games against the Astros in this series. Beltran has now hit safely in eight of his last ten games with multiple hits in seven of those contests. e is 11-27 (.407) one the last week and 28-80 (.350) in July. While the Yankees may move Beltran for the right price, he’s definitely swinging a hot bat right now and is a good play tonight against Lance McCullers and the Astros. ∗∗∗∗
Starling Marte-Pittsburgh Pirates (3,700): Marte has picked things up lately and is 7-19 (.368) over the past week while also swiping five stolen bases in his last ten games. He has been hitting cleanup lately for Pittsburgh, but he still brings plenty of speed to the table. He has hit safely in four of his last five starts with extra base hits in three of those contests. Tonight, he and the Pirates will look to bounce back from last night’s loss as they take on James Paxton and the Mariners. ∗∗∗
Dexter Fowler-Chicago Cubs (3,400): Fowler has gone 4-17 (.235) since returning to the Cubs from his DL stint. He hasn’t had a huge game since his 3-4 return with a HR, but he continues to hit leadoff and should be able to post good numbers tonight since I think the Cubs offense will celebrate their return to Wrigley with a big game against Anthony Ranaudo and the White Sox.∗∗∗∗
Coco Crisp-Oakland Athletics (3,300): Crisp went 2-4 with a double and a home run last night against the Rangers but is still just 12-59 (.203) in July. The reason he makes sense as a flier tonight is that he has hit Yu Darvish well in his career. Crisp is 7-21 (.333) against the Rangers’ Ace with a triple homer, and eight RBI on his way to a .956 OPS.∗∗
