DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-July 28
First Baseman
High-Salary Option: David Ortiz-Boston Red Sox (5,600): Ortiz may be 40 and hurting, but he still leads the AL in OPS with a 1.071 mark. He has gone 22-77 in July (.286) with seven homers and 21 RBI. He’s in a good matchup tonight since he has gone 12-37 (.324) with three homers and ten RBI helping him to a 1.003 OPS in his career against Angels’ starter Jered Weaver. As the Red Sox start their long road trip, look for Big Papi to step up and lead the way as he has done throughout the season for a Boston lineup that can bash with the best of them. ∗∗∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Hanley Ramirez-Boston Red Sox (4,100): If you can’t afford Big Papi, Hanley Ramirez has been helping him out enough lately to be a solid play as well. He has hit five of his 13 homers this season in the month of July while going 19-62 (.306) to raise his average to .279 and his OPS to a solid .808. Ramirez is familiar with the Angels staff from his time with LA’s other team, but he has never faced Jered Weaver. He has been hot enough lately to give him a look after he got yesterday off against the Tigers.∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Kennys Vargas-Minnesota Twins (4,100): Vargas has hit safely in five straight after going 1-5 yesterday, and he’s in a good matchup tonight against the struggling Ubaldo Jimenez. Vargas has hit .315 since being recalled tot he Majors and has a 1.064 OPS to go with three homers, nine doubles, and seven RBI.∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Freddie Freeman-Atlanta Braves (3,600): Freeman had a huge game last night going 4-4 with a double and a homer run for an impressive 53.7 fantasy points against the Twins. After a brutal start to the season, he has been picking it up lately and is 9-24 (.375) over that last week with a robust 1.173 OPS. Freeman will face Andrew Nola as the Braves host the Phils tonight and his is 4-11 (.364) against Nola with a double and a home run in their past meetings. ∗∗∗∗
High-Value Option: Brandon Belt-San Francisco Giants (3,000): If you have to only 3K, Belt is a solid option to consider tonight as he and the Giants continue their homestand. Belt has a .878 OPS on the season and seems to be shaking off a slump he was stuck in earlier this month. He is 2-3 in his career against Tanner Roark with a double and is the best low-price option at 1B tonight.∗∗
