Second Baseman

High-Salary Option: Dustin Pedroia (3,700): Pedroia went 1-4 yesterday and homered in the first inning to get the Red Sox off to a good start in a game they eventually went on to lose. He is hitting .406 (13-32) over the last week with a pair of home runs and has hit safely in each of his last seven games.  His OPS on the season is up to .820 and he’s getting great pitches to hit in front of the meat of the Red Sox order from his spot at #2.  Pedroia is just 8-34 (.235) against Jered Weaver in his career, but I still think he’s a solid play if you have the salary to spend on a 2B.

Mid-Range Option: Daniel Murphy-Washington Nationals (3,600): Murphy has been tearing things up lately and is 26-71 (.366) so far in July with 11 doubles and six homers to go with 22 RBI.  He is in a bad matchup tonight as he faces Johnny Cueto and the Giants.  In his career, Murphy is just 3-17 (.176) against Cueto, but he’s hitting the ball so well right now that it’s impossible to ignore his 1.152 OPS in July. ∗∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Brian Dozier-Minnesota Twins (3,400): Another Twins batter who deserves a look against the Orioles tonight is Dozier who is 7-23 (.304) over the last week with a homer and a pair of doubles to raise his average to .249 on the season. In his career, Dozier has gone 6-19 (.316) against Ubaldo Jimenez who will start tonight for Baltimore.∗∗∗

High Value Option: Cesar Hernandez-Philadelphia Phillies (2,800): Hernandez should be a good source of value tonight as he takes on the Braves looking to except his hitting streak to six games.  This month, Hernandez has solidified his starting spot going 29-84 (.345) with two doubles and two triples. He’s 3-10 in his career against Matt Wisler who starts tonight for the Braves, and even though he doesn’t have elite power or speed he can be a solid option to collect a few hits, runs, or RBI. ∗∗∗

High Value Option: Jurickson Profar-Texas Rangers (2,300): Profar has hit safely in four straight and went 3-5 with a double and a run scored yesterday.  He has at least six fantasy points in four of his last five games and should find playing time easier to come by now that Prince Fielder is done for the season. Profar has hit better against righties, so the match against Yordano Ventura should be a solid one for him tonight making him a great value especially if he hits at the top of the Rangers lineup.
