FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-July 28
Shortstop
High-Salary Option: Xander Bogaerts-Boston Red Sox (4,100): Bogaerts is a pricey play tonight as the Red Sox hit LA, but that’s because he’s about the only big-name SS scheduled to be in action and has been heating up lately. Over his last seven games, Bogaerts has five contests with at least 15 fantasy points. He has gone 14-29 (.483) over the last week with a pair of doubles and a home run. Tonight, he’ll take on Jered Weaver who he is 0-5 against in the past, but he still stands out as the best bat available at the position. ∗∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Javier Baez-Chicago Cubs (3,100): Baez hit a tie-breaking two-run homer last night against the White Sox and went 1-4. He has an .801 OPS on the season after going 23-69 (.333) to start July with three homers and ten RBI. He’ll be in a tough matchup tonight against Chris Sale, but in good news he has hit lefties well this year going 27-73 (.370) with a stout 1.049 OPS. He also has been much better at home (.913 OPS) than on the road (.711 OPS) throughout the season making him an play worth considering even though he has to take on Sale tonight at Wrigley.∗∗∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Trea Turner-Washington Nationals (3,000): Turner has gone 7-21 (.333) over the last week and collected hits in eight of his last nine games. Yesterday he ended up 3-4 with two doubles and three RBI raising his average all the way up to .319 in his dozen games in the Majors. Turner is a blue-chip prospect who may be ready to contribute form the leadoff spot. If he hits there tonight, he’ll have to deal with Johnny unto, but I still think he’s a solid play at 3K with some nice upside.∗∗
High-Value Option: J.J. Hardy-Baltimore Orioles (2,500): Hardy is 8-19 (.421) over the last week and 25-72 (.347) for the month of July. He continues to get plenty of playing time for the O’s even though he hasn’t quite found the home run stroke he has had the last few years. Hardy does have a home run in his history against tonight’s starter Kyle Gibson and comes in 3-7 with a double and a homer giving him a nice OPS of 1.500 against the Twins’ scheduled starter.∗∗∗∗
