Creating powerful NFL Olympic teams using four USA regions
Olympic Medal Predictions
So, with the starting line-ups for the regions released, who would take home the Gold medal in American Football?
Honestly, I think this one is kind of obvious. The South squad is absolutely loaded on both sides of the ball. While anything can happen in one game of football, and I would not be surprised to see the West or Midwest giving them a run, it is hard to bet against that South team.
If this competition were to take place, I imagine that Cam Newton, Adrian Peterson, Von Miller and the loaded South roster would take home the Gold medal.
Now, there is certainly a scenario where Newton could struggle or the many egos on the South squad get in the way of the ultimate goal, but it is tough to actually predict that.
In my opinion, the East squad put together here is the worst. It seemed like I was always searching long and hard for a player at the positions for the East, while the other teams mostly had All-Pro players making up their roster.
The South would wipe the floor with the East in their first-round match-up, leaving the West versus the Midwest on the other side of the bracket. Now, that would be a fun game to watch.
I could legitimately see that match-up going either way, but I like the overall structure of the Midwest team just a bit more than the West. The Midwest may be able to put up a fight against the South in the Gold medal game, but that roster is too loaded to predict against.
Gold Medal: South
Silver Medal: Midwest
Bronze Medal: West
