At 51-54 through their first 105 games during the 2016 MLB season, it seems that the Chicago White Sox are going to miss the postseason yet again. The White Sox came out of the gate with conviction early in the season. Many thought that a Windy City World Series was on the table as the White Sox and the National League behemoth Chicago Cubs were leading their respective leagues after the season’s first few weeks.

The White Sox have faded fast. Manager Robin Ventura has to be on the hot seat with yet another underwhelming season under his belt. Chicago has arguably the best pitcher in baseball in southpaw slinger Chris Sale, but even he is growing increasingly frustrated by the utter chaos surrounding Chicago’s team on the South Side.

After two locker room incidents this season, many thought that the White Sox would move on from their five-time American League All-Star and Cy Young candidate. If Sale had been traded before the non-waiver deadline, the White Sox could have garnered really any number of top-notch prospects they wanted, even with him only under contract through 2017.

Could Sale be moved via waivers before September? Potentially, but the White Sox missed out on making potentially the blockbuster trade that would get them out of the seemingly perpetual ineptitude in the American League Central.
