43. . American League. East. New York Yankees. 3. player

Outside of shortstop Didi Gregorius, the Yankees are a bland, mediocre baseball team with really no intriguing players. Alex Rodriguez could very well be released by the club later this season. The Yankees are losing relevancy behind their city rival New York Mets this season and the Mets aren’t a lights-out team like they were last year.

It’s probably going to end up a terrible cultural fit, as the Yankees are as old school as it gets in Major League Baseball, but something has to give with regards to the most storied franchise in league history. If not careful, the Yankees could become as irrelevant as they were during Don Mattingly’s prime as a player in the 1980s.

Is Puig an answer in New York or really just a media spectacle? Maybe both. Right-handed power, slick glove work in the outfield, a rocket for an arm, and a flair for the dramatic feels like it just belongs in the Big Apple.

This could be a wise buy-low, sell-high sort of front office venture for the Yankees. Keep in mind that general manager Brian Cashman turned troubled southpaw fireballer Aroldis Chapman into top-tier prospects this trade deadline. He did the same thing with historically unreliable lefty that is having a career year in 2016 in Andrew Miller. Puig could be the next rehabilitation project for the Yankees organization. At the very least, he’ll be entertaining in the Yankees outfield.

Next: 2. Seattle Mariners.
