Most impactful NFL training camp injuries so far

The Pittsburgh Steelers still might be the favorite to win the AFC North this season, but have for a lack of a better word, have had a terrible offseason. They’ve lost two of their key offensive weapons in running back Le’Veon Bell and wide receiver Martavis Bryant for smoking marijuana.
Pittsburgh’s defense is a shell of its former self and hasn’t been rebuilt in the manner that brought its fifth and sixth Super Bowl Championships to the Steel City. Though he didn’t play very much as a rookie coming out of the University of Mississippi in 2015, losing second-year defensive back Senquez Golson to a Lisfranc injury doesn’t bode well for the Pittsburgh secondary at all.
Golson had great ball skills while at Ole Miss as a unanimous All-American in 2014 for the Rebel’s Land Shark defense. Many expected Golson to make a stark improvement in year two in the league in 2016, but he will likely have to miss 12 weeks with his Lisfranc injury suffered on Tuesday.
That would put Golson on a time table to return by early November. Given that the Steelers’ defense is as worse as it has been in recent memory, this puts more pressure on quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to put up a ton of points in shootouts, as the Steel Curtain defense is nowhere to be found in Western Pennsylvania in 2016.
Golson isn’t a standout by any means on the Steelers’ defense, but his loss only adds to what has been a very rough offseason for the Pittsburgh professional football team.
