Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler play football on day off (video)

Team USA stars Klay Thompson and Jimmy Butler took advantage of their time off at the Olympics and played a bit of one-on-one football along with assistant coach Monty Williams.

While basketball is their chosen sport, Klay Thompson and Jimmy Butler decided to let loose and have some fun on the football field. The Team USA teammates took advantage of their day off this past Sunday by hitting the football field. Assistant coach Monty Williams joined in the fun and played quarterback. Thompson posted a video with some highlights to his Instagram page.
In the clip, the Golden State Warriors All-Star is seen catching a deep pass thrown by Williams. Butler tries to guard him but probably eased up a bit so Klay could have his own football moment of glory in Rio. It seems these two are probably excited for the upcoming NFL season like many fans around the country.
In good humor, Klay appears to be trolling the Oakland Raiders, the NFL club near where his Warriors play. Of course, the Raiders are more than likely deep enough already at whichever roster spot Thompson was auditioning for. Jimmy Butler also got a highlight posted and poked fun at Thompson in his own Instagram clip.
Neither Thompson nor Butler has any football in their athletic backgrounds. It’s been strictly a life of playing hoops for these two NBA pros. That’s a good thing too, as they’ll continue their pursuit of gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics this month. Next up is a matchup against Venezuela on Monday evening in Brazil.
