10 NFL teams poised to be better in 2016
By John Buhler
The 2016 Cleveland Browns are going to start at rock bottom. Cleveland finished with the second-worst record in 2015 and have again undergone another series of changes in the front office and coaching departments. However, there seems to be some degree of unity within the Browns organization that is so atypical of Cleveland.
Hue Jackson and Pep Hamilton bring an offensive approach to a team that has struggled to move the chains consistently for years. Robert Griffin, III is the new starting quarterback. He’ll have weapons like Josh Gordon, Corey Coleman, Gary Barnidge, and Isaiah Crowell to work with under center.
Cleveland’s front office has been revamped as one of the most analytical in the NFL. Sashi Brown is the new general manager and former MLB front office executive Paul DePodesta are working together to find creative and proactive solutions to the Browns’ football problems. Moneyball is coming to the NFL in 2016.
If Griffin and Jackson have good player/coach chemistry, Cleveland could do as well as 6-10, maybe 7-9 in 2016. That would be good enough to give Griffin another year to start with the Browns and maybe not finish in fourth place in the AFC North. Wins will be the real test to see if this team is better, but it’ll be hard for the Browns not to improve on utter disaster in 2015.
Next: 8. Miami Dolphins.
