In the same vein of why the Dallas Cowboys will be better in 2016, the Indianapolis Colts should be able to improve on a massively disappointing 2015 NFL season because of the health of their star quarterback Andrew Luck.

Luck missed half of the 2015 NFL season with a lacerated kidney. He only won two games as the Colts starter in a year where Indianapolis stumbled to .500 and failed to win a weak AFC South division crown.

Though the AFC South is largely improved and the 2016 Colts won’t cakewalk to a perfect 6-0 record in divisional play this season, Luck has the potential to lead Indianapolis to maybe another AFC Championship Game.

However for that to come to fruition, Luck will absolutely have to have an MVP caliber season for the Colts, as general manager Ryan Grigson has whiffed more than he has hit in building this football team through five NFL Drafts and free agency periods. Indianapolis arguably has a bottom-half roster in the AFC entering the 2016 NFL season.

Given that the Colts are always given the benefit of the doubt to win the AFC South, since nobody else seems to have a vise-like grip on the division, it’s still a realistic bet to tab the Colts as 2016 AFC South Champions and can host an AFC Wild Card Game this January.

2016 is the year that Luck must turn his hype as an all-time great quarterback. How the Colts perform will be a reflection of his prowess as an NFL quarterback. Will he be the next John Elway or the next Drew Bledsoe? This is a make-or-break year for Luck and the Colts. History says that they will rebound, but we shall see.
