Buccaneers fumble first kickoff of preseason (Video)
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fumbled the opening kickoff of their first preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The NFL Preseason is a time for teams to get things right before the regular season begins and there are some teams that need a little more time than others. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers clearly need a lot more work before they’re even ready to begin getting prepared for the regular season. Against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, the Buccaneers couldn’t even get the opening kickoff right.
As Kenny Bell took the opening kickoff out of the end zone, he ran right into Najee Goode, who ended up knocking the ball loose from Bell. The ball would squirt around on the field and the Eagles would recover it deep in Buccaneers territory. For Tampa Bay, this is probably not how they wanted to start things under Dirk Koetter.
Then again, it’s best to get out of their system now before things become real and it’s likely that multiple others are going to get a good long look at returner. Even worse for the Buccaneers is that when their offense finally did get on the field, they couldn’t really move the ball at all.
As for Bell, he better learn how to hold onto the football real fast if he wants to keep his job on the roster.
