Thursday’s beach volleyball slate at the 2016 Rio Olympics includes the first set of knockout round games.

Thursday will be the third and final match of pool play for 12 teams in both the men’s and women’s tournaments. Fourteen teams in each tournament will have their place booked in the knockout stages following the match at 9:00 a.m., and will be joined by the winners of two “lucky losers” matches to round out the evening.

New American partnership Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena will look for their third straight win to close out the preliminaries in a match against Italy at 3:30 p.m. On the women’s side, Americans Brooke Sweat and Lauren Fendrick are in desperate need of a win against Russia at 2:30.

Fresh off two straight upsets, Cuban squad Nivaldo Diaz and Sergio Gonzalez will try to take down undefeated  Chaim Schalk and Ben Saxton at 10:00 a.m. The morning’s action begins with a critical match between Monika Brzostek and Kinga Kolosinsk of Poland and top-seeded  Larissa Franca and Talita Antunes of Brazil.
