Olympics shooting at the 2016 Rio Olympics have already handed out almost all of their medals. However, there is still one event left and one more set of medals to be handed out. That final medal will be awarded on Sunday, August 14 from Day 9 of the Games. The best men’s shooters in the sport will all take part in one of the most taxing competitions, the Men’s 50m 3 Positions competition.

For those unfamiliar, the 50m Rifle 3 Positions competition asks shooters to shoot from the three core positions: kneeling, prone, and standing. Rather than individual positioning, though, these shooters must be able to hit the target from all three in the allotted time. Subsequently, it’s one of the fastest and most skillful shooting events out there.

The qualification round at the Rio Olympics in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event will begin early at 8 a.m. ET. After it’s determined who will be advancing and qualifying, the medal round will be on hand. Said medal round begins at Noon ET.

Matt Emmons enters the competition at Rio 2016 as a veteran in the sport. The Team USA member won gold back at Athens 2004 and would love to add another. However, stark competition awaits him on Sunday from a handful of shooters from China. Therefore, If Emmons plans to repeat, he’s going to need to be at his best.
