Ranking the 30 best sports cities in America for 2016
14. Denver, Colorado
If your town’s been to eight Super Bowls and won at least three, odds are well in your favor you’ll wind up in the upper crust of America’s best sports cities. We’re talking, of course, about the Denver Broncos, a team fresh off one of the most defensively-dominant postseason runs in recent memory.
Though they face many questions at the quarterback spot, the Broncos are the team in Denver — and for a huge swath of Big Sky Country, for that matter. Indeed, few fan bases are as passionate, loyal, or knowledgeable about the game football as the Broncos faithful.
Not only does Denver tout the Super Bowl champs; they’re one of just a handful of cities to tout franchises — with the Nuggets, Avalanche, and Rockies all authoring their own stretches of success — in all four major sports.
The Avalanche had their own mini-dynasty, winning a pair of Stanley Cups (in 1996 and 200). The Nuggets, meanwhile, have made the playoffs plenty of times, and play in one of the most unique-looking venues in all of sports.
And while the Colorado Rockies have made just one World Series appearance, home-run magnet Coors Field is a true hitter’s dream, not to mention one of the best parks in all of baseball.
