1. Boston, Massachusetts

The sports scene in Boston is tops for two reason: 1) They win championships; and 2) they have the bar-none fiercest fans of any city.

Put it this way: When you’re worrying about not having won a championship in a year or two, you know your city has fallen on good times. And with both the Red Sox and Patriots once again looking like potential contenders, there’s every chance Boston could add yet another notch on its championship belt before long.

The Boston Celtics have the most championships in NBA history, and while they might not be a contender in the Eastern Conference just yet, they made a big step forward by adding Al Horford to an already compelling, cohesive steam.

There are very few ball parks quite like Fenway Park, where people flock from all over to take in the sights and sounds (and smells) of the iconic brick stadium.

The Bruins might’ve missed the playoffs again, but with a Stanley Cup title in 2011, even B’s fans are enjoying some consistent success.

What sets Boston fans apart more than anything else, though, is the attitude: They’re tough, and aren’t liable to put up with your trash talk. This is a fanbases that parties hard, roots harder, and bleeds the colors of its beloved four teams.

Any of the top 10 teams on our least could’ve landed in the No. 1 spot. But it’s Boston, with its rich sports tradition and second-to-none passion, that everyone else will have to look up to — at least for another year.
