Khiry Robinson

Robinson showed he can be a nice power-back for the Saints last season, and will look to follow the career path of Chris Ivory who had his breakout year after leaving New Orleans for New York. Robinson head 180 yards and four touchdowns on 56 carries while adding 115 yards on 17 catches for the Saints last year. He was emerging as a bigger player in their offense when he broke his leg in Week 8 against the Giants.

Robinson was surprisingly not tendered by New Orleans making him an unrestricted Free Agent. He ended up with he Jets on a one-year deal for $1.175 million. He has reportedly been trending towards being the short-yardage specialist for New York which could lead to goalline action and touchdowns.

Robinson’s role in the Jets attack is still undefined, but now that he’s off the active/PUP list we should get a look at how they envision him figuring into their attack. Outside of touchdown-heavy leagues, though, I think he’ll have very limited value behind Forte and Powell.  However, if either Forte or Powell go down with an injury, Robinson could be a weekly starter as his role would likely increase. He does bring more power to the running game than Forte and Powell, so watch his portion of the timeshare carefully as the season starts.
