Marvin Jones-Detroit Lions

Jones played the first four years of his career in Cincinnati working across the field from A.J. Green. He missed the entire 2014 season, but he came back last year to post 816 yards on 65 catches.  He found the end zone four times after his outlier of ten receiving touchdowns in 2013.

This offseason, Jones joined the list of breakout WR by moving to Detroit where he signed for five years and $40 million. The timing could set up perfectly for Jones since the Lions are trying to replace their perennial All-NFL receiver and #1 target Calvin Johnson.  Johnson’s early retirement opens up a ton of targets for Jones, and he reportedly has quickly emerged as Matthew Stafford’s go-to option.

Jones could end up the Lions leading wideout, and I like him more than Golden Tate who is being a little over-drafted for my taste.  Jones is still a great bargain going in the tenth round as the 39th receiver drafted. He is an awesome value as your fourth WR in standard-sized leagues and could be a WR2 or even a WR1 by the end of the season.  I see Jones as having a higher ceiling than Moncrief although he is a little bit more risky since he’ll be adjusting to a new situation.
