Fantasy Football: Top 10 Breakout WR in 2016
Tajae Sharpe
The Titans traded last year’s second-round pick Dorial Green-Beckham to the Eagles on Tuesday after falling out of love with ever-unrealized “potential.” While DGB is still inconsistent, there’s still some upside to like in his move to Philadelphia. The big winner in the Titans’ trade, though, isn’t either team or Green-Beckham. The biggest winner of the trade was fifth-round rookie Tajae Sharpe.
Sharpe has had a great training camp and been the talk of the Titan’s offseason as he has emerged as a starting option despite coming from UMass which isn’t exactly known as a receiver hot bed. Sharpe impressed the Titans enough, though, that they felt they could trade DGB and roll with Sharpe alongside free agent signee Rishard Matthews and slot receiver Kendall Wright.
The Titans will be a run-heavy team with their two-headed “Thunder and Thunder” attack of DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry. They will throw the ball, though, and Marcus Mariota has reportedly clicked with Sharpe and Matthews creating a solid environment for Mariota to take his next step as an NFL passer.
Sharpe could definitely join Mariota in his progress and emerge as a breakout WR even as a fairly unheralded rookie. Right now, you can still get Sharpe at the very end of your draft since eh’s either going undrafted or ofter 100 receivers are off the board (only Fantrax even tracks drafts that go that far).
