Larry Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald was the #3 overall pick all the way back in 2004 and is entering his 13th season with the Cardinals.  He signed a one-year extension but has stated he has no idea if this is his last season or if he’ll continue to play for season number 14 next year.

Last season, he had a great year finishing as the tenth-best fantasy receiver.  He totaled 1,215 yard receiving while catching a career-high 109 passes and finding the end zone nine times.  Fitz’s year was a huge bounce back after being held under 1,000 yards in the three previous seasons.

This preseason he has been dealing with a slight knee sprain and was held out of Week 2 as a result. Fitzgerald doesn’t really need the work to establish a rapport with Carson Palmer after his big year last year, but durability is a concern for the almost 33-year-old.

At this point, Fitzgerald is being drafted in the sixth round as the 27th receiver taken (according to fantasypros.com’s consensus ADP). After his huge year last year, this overall numbers seems low to me. While I don’t think he’ll quite duplicate last year’s success, he should be a top-20 receiver if he can stay healthy since he has such and established role and good connection with Carson Palmer.  Target his as a nice value as your third receiver even though he may not offer the “sizzle” of some of the hotter emerging picks.
