4. Mike Zimmer – Minnesota Vikings

This might come as a shock to some people, considering 75 percent of NFL fans probably couldn’t pick Mike Zimmer out of a lineup. But I don’t think it can be overstated how incredible a job Zimmer’s done with this Vikings team. In the span of a few short years, he molded the Vikings to becoming NFC North champs in 2015.

When you look at what Minnesota did last season en route to winning the division, they were wholly impressive on both sides of the ball. Now, having Adrian Peterson is clearly going to help any offense, while Anthony Barr and Harrison Smith make your job a whole lot easier on the other side of the ball. But what you have to admire about Zimmer, as a coach, is how well he understand his personnel’s strengths and weaknesses. If that doesn’t ring presidential, I don’t know what does.

When considering someone for the role of literally the leader of the free world, you want more than just a person capable of being successful more often than not; you want someone who can also minimize the chances of you not succeeding. That doesn’t mean a lack of risk, but it does entail not taking senseless ones. Zimmer’s Vikings fit that description like a glove, hence why he’d be a top-notch candidate for this incessantly daunting role.
