Ranking 32 NFL coaches you’d want to have a beer with
John Fox is a grizzled NFL veteran headlining his third team, the Chicago Bears. He also knows a little about heartbreak, having lost twice in the Super Bowl, once to the New England Patriots on a last second Adam Vinatieri field goal and once to the Seattle Seahawks in a beatdown, 43-8.
The Bears are the only team John Fox has coached that he hasn’t taken to the Super Bowl, but give him time, he just started there last year. I’d like to sit down with John over a pint and ask him how it felt to lose in the Super Bowl one year, get fired and then watch his previous team (Denver Broncos) go on to win the Super Bowl the next year.
That conversation might not go so well, but I’m sure he’d handle it like a champ. He can reminisce about Peyton Manning’s record breaking 2013 season and I’ll just sit back and sip on a nice IPA. Fox has had a long NFL career, so he probably has plenty of dirt and exciting gossip on players, coaches and NFL executives that he can pass along.
One thing is for sure, the conversation would never be boring, and there are worse places in the world to have a beer than the Windy City.
