1. Julian Draxler

Landing Draxler this late in the window would represent a major coup for Wenger and the Gunners. He’d be getting a supremely gifted player he’s coveted for a while.

Draxler even talked up a move to Arsenal back in 2013, per Metro’s Jamie Sanderson. Just last month, ESPN, via The Independent‘s Samuel Lovett, stated the Gunners were ready to offer £43 million to convince Wolfsburg to sell.

Wenger has previously been rumored to want to convert wide forward Draxler into a central striker, much the same way he did with Robin van Persie, according to John Cross of the Daily Mirror.

It’s a smart plan, considering Draxler has the same deceptive quickness as Van Persie, the same close control and the same ferocious shooting power.

The 22-year-old Germany international often ghosts off the flank and attacks through the middle, so his transition would likely be smooth. Draxler has the pace, technical acumen, impudent flair and eye for goal Wenger has traditionally coveted in his strikers.

If he’s ready to look past Draxler’s fairly bloated history of injury woes, Wenger should splash the cash on an attacker with the potential to be one of the best in the game in the very near future.
