It appears this is the end of the road for Kendall Marshall. The Philadelphia 76ers traded the former North Carolina guard to Utah, where he will reportedly be cut by the Utah Jazz.

Kendall Marshall’s long NBA journey appears to be winding to an end. The former lottery pick of the Phoenix Suns in 2012 already lost out on his rookie contract and has been dealt several times in his young career. He may have finally hit his end.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports the Philadelphia 76ers have now given up on Kendall Marshall, trading him to the Utah Jazz for Tibor Pleiss. The Jazz will waive Marshall, making him a free agent.

Marshall has only $2 million guaranteed on the four-year deal he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers last summer if he is waived before Saturday. Clearly the Jazz saw an opportunity to clear some cap room and make their books a little cleaner. It is unclear if Marshall will catch on anywhere in the month left before training camp. Someone surely will give him a chance.

Marshall has struggled throughout his four-year career. He has played for four different teams in that time, averaging just 5.0 points per game and 4.9 assists per game while shooting just 39.9 percent from the floor. His best season, in 2014, saw him average 8.0 points per game for the Los Angeles Lakers. It has been an unfulfilled career for the former North Carolina Tar Heel.

Tibor Pleiss will be another young prospect for the Sixers to mine. Pleiss appeared in only 12 games last year for the Jazz. The 7-3 center played decently in 28 games in the D-League, averaging 12.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He is a young center prospect with a team-friendly contract.

Just what the Sixers need though, another center.

This deal is largely administrative, helping both teams clear some cap room and keep some financial flexibility. For Marshall though, it feels like the end of the road on a once-promising career.
