NFL rumors: 5 teams that should trade for Mark Sanchez
1. Indianapolis Colts
This is an easy call. Everyone saw what happened last year when Andrew Luck sustained a lacerated kidney and missed the final half of the season. Indianapolis struggled to score and the odds-on favorites to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl missed the postseason.
Fast forward to the summer of 2016, and it’s a terrifying depth chart. With the retirement of Matthew Hasselbeck, the Colts are looking at Scott Tolzien and Stephen Morris should Luck go down. Both of those names have disaster written all over them.
The Colts would be smart to at least kick the tires on Sanchez. Indianapolis has a ton of cap space to work with, easily able to take on his $4.5 million for 2016. While the offensive line questions and lack of a true feature back are scary for a guy like Sanchez, Indianapolis would still be in better hands.
The Colts can’t afford to watch another season go into the ditch should Luck miss a few games. Sanchez isn’t ideal with so many glaring holes on the offense, but he would provide more opportunity to win than the other current options.
