Tip #1: Enjoy it all year long

First off, remember there are no expectations for you as a newcomer. Enjoy your “rookie” status since you can make mistakes and learn on the fly without getting too much grief from your competitors.  Some leagues can be pretty fierce with their trash talk, but as a newbie there will be plenty of understanding if you screw something up.

Remember that even the most seasoned veterans have probably made the same mistakes you’ll make, but they’ve just already made them when they were first getting started. Hopefully, this post will help you avoid some of the common pitfalls new owners get tripped up by. However, when things go wrong remember there’s a learning curve and take the lessons of your mistake forward.

In today’s fast-paced news world there is plenty of information to go around, so don’t get overwhelmed and stick with it through the whole season. One resource with tons of information is fantasypros.com. They even have a draft assistant that can walk you through each of your picks and help you know based on what the experts say you should take.  Make sure to bookmark FanSided’s fantasy football hub too where you can find our ongoing coverage all season long.

Whatever you do, make sure you finish out the whole year. There’s no bigger single mistake new owners make than abandoning their team.  It’s the one “unpardonable sin” in fantasy football.  The only way you won’t ever get invited back to the league is if you don’t keep your roster current all the way through the end of the season.
