Nevada – Ricky Davis

Zach Harper of CBS Sports, if he ever sees this, will absolutely love this choice.

Ricky Davis has become something of a cult hero for the sub-section of NBA fans that love “chuckers”, as Davis famously wanted to get his numbers by any means necessary. Perhaps the best example of this came when Davis tried to generate a triple-double by shooting (and missing) a shot on the other team’s rim in order to generate a tenth rebound. It’s the stuff legends are made of.

As for this list, Davis makes the cut for Nevada because he was, by some measure, the most productive player in that state’s history. The talented swingman accumulated the most points, rebounds, blocks, and minutes of any player born in Nevada, and while it wasn’t always pretty, Davis gets the nod based on that.

In terms of competition, Greg Anthony is easily the most threatening, while C.J. Watson and Pat Garrity deserve some cursory mention. Anthony was certainly the steadiest player of the bunch, but Davis’ peak was higher and, well, it is just a lot more fun to write about Ricky Davis than Greg Anthony, whether the topic is statistical output or hardwood folklore.
