TE. Michigan. Jake Butt . 28. player. 45. Gary Kubiak loves to make tight ends a key part of his offense dating back to his days a coordinator in Denver with Shannon Sharpe. There was also Owen Daniels in Houston.

So hopes are high that Denver might see a similar development with Virgil Green this year. He’s got a nice mix of size and athleticism. Whether he’s a true threat in the passing game remains a mystery given his limited use the past couple years. This will be his best and probably only shot to secure the job before the team starts looking elsewhere.

In this scenario that is exactly what happens. Hoping to find Paxton Lynch a legitimate threat at that position, the Broncos grabs Michigan hopeful Jake Butt. He really came on in 2015 under the guidance of Jim Harbaugh. Though not quite the athlete Howard is, he can run and has a 6-foot-6 frame that offers plenty of matchup advantages.

He had over 650 yards as a sophomore, so expectations are for him to do even better. Even his blocking is decent with a margin for considerable improvement. It’s an ideal fit for what Kubiak likes to do.
