23. Breshad Perriman

Breshad Perriman is a wide receiver the Baltimore Ravens selected in the first round of the 2015 draft. He suffered a PCL strain on the first day of training camp a year ago, then re-injured the knee while rehabbing, costing him his entire rookie season. In June, he sustained a partially torn ACL, and he has no timetable for return. Football is the cruelest sport; no matter what you accomplish, somebody younger, cheaper, faster and stronger is forever pushing to replace you. Second chances are no gimme; expect any patience beyond that and you’re in for a cold, endless wait. Yet the Ravens are still hoping Perriman is a part of their future, for the same reasons you’d hope to have him on your zombie apocalypse team.

Perriman is a straight flight burner: his 40-yard dash times clock in below 4.3 seconds. In addition, he boasts a 36.5 inch vertical leap. You can question the relevance of numbers like this when you’re at a draft combine; it’s hard to quantify how much they apply to on-the-gridiron success. When you’re drafting people to help you survive the world of the undead, speed and hops are what the zombie analytics community calls “survivables.” For all we still don’t know about Breshad Perriman, we know he’s not getting run down and he can jump his way out of a lot of trouble. Those survivables are off the chart.
