21. Kelvin Benjamin

One of the few misfortunes to afflict the Carolina Panthers on their way to the Super Bowl last season was the loss of wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin to a torn ACL near the end of the preseason. Benjamin has worked tirelessly to recover from his injury and help the Panthers take that final step toward a championship. Every cloud has a silver lining, so while his adversity was every athlete’s nightmare, it gave him the space and time away from the game to learn important lessons about himself and his perspective on things. His willingness to share what he learned makes it clear he has what it takes to be the captain of your zombie apocalypse team.

Benjamin refuses to wear a knee brace because he feels if he did, it would be a constant reminder that he has to take things easily, and he knows he can’t get back to where he was with that fear hanging over him. You can’t let fear guide you in a world run by zombies; giving in to that is taking the first step toward your grave. Benjamin also admits that, while at first he wished his team didn’t win a Super Bowl without him, by the end of the year he was cheering them on fully. This admission shows candor and maturity. You’re going to need people with both those traits to navigate the tricky twists of a zombie apocalypse.
