1. Freeman is the best offensive player on a great offense

Make no bones about it, Oregon has been and certainly will be one of the nation’s top five offenses. The speed at which they play and the frequency that the run plays at, leads them to put up huge offensive numbers each and every season.

That will not change this year as they bring in a new quarterback, whose game is quite similar to Mariota’s. Freeman will still be the focal point of this dynamic offense as he prepares for his third and possibly final year at Oregon.

Yes it’s true that the majority of Heisman winners are quarterbacks. But in the past any time there is a running back that is the center of a top offense, the receive a lot of consideration. Last year Henry and McCaffrey were the centers of their offenses and finished No. 1 and 2 in Heisman voting.

The year before Mariota and Melvin Gordon of Wisconsin were top finalists as they dominated their offenses. This year Freeman has a very real possibility of leading the nation in rushing attempts, rushing yards, touchdowns and he tops off his total package by being a terrific receiver out of the backfield.

With Oregon’s explosive offense, easy defensive schedule and Freeman’s role in this offense, getting their second Heisman Trophy winner in three seasons is a reasonable possibility.
