What? University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh had a temperamental moment over the weekend? Say it ain’t so.

By Jim Harbaugh’s own admission, he is a difficult person. In 2015, he said, via Pro Football Talk, “Sometimes I’d wear out my welcome.” By all accounts, the University of Michigan is satisfied with Harbaugh thus far, but he did have a run-in with an ESPN analyst this weekend. This only a few weeks after he walked out of a presser because reporters were asking him too many questions.

After Harbaugh did not let All-American cornerback Jourdan Lewis play against Hawaii on Saturday, ESPN analyst Ed Cunningham did what analysts are supposed to do. He did some critical thinking and wondered aloud if Lewis wasn’t out because of an injury, but because of disciplinary problems.

Harbaugh called out Cunningham in his presser, saying:

"It had nothing to do with any off-field suspension I heard about Ed Cunningham, got way out over his skis, speculating it was some kind of suspension. Jourdan Lewis is one of the finest guys we have on the team. Football character and off-the-field character. Just total character. There’s few, if any better, than Jourdan Lewis. Just wanted to clarify that for the record."

The kind of irritation displayed by Harbaugh, a Michigan alum, has become as much a staple for him as his khaki pants. Last month, Harbaugh walked out of a media session after he was asked about player suspensions. Before walking out, Harbaugh said, via AL.com, “That’s why I don’t give you any information, because you’re never satisfied. You want a second question, a third question, a fourth question. I just said we’d handle it internally.”

On the football field, the Wolverines crushed the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors by a score of 63-3 in their season opener at The Big House.
