5 takeaways from Amway Coaches Poll, Week 2

3. Why didn’t Florida State leapfrog Clemson?
This doesn’t make any sense. Florida State experienced a wide array of emotions in the biggest comeback in Seminoles history in their Labor Day win over the Ole Miss Rebels. The Seminoles pass rush was the best in the land in Week 1, while redshirt freshman Deondre Francois looked electric at quarterback.
Meanwhile, Florida State’s ACC Atlantic rival, Clemson, didn’t exactly blow out Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night. Dabo Swinney’s Tigers needed to swat to Sean White passes out of the end zone to avoid being upset by Gus Malzahn’s Tigers.
To be fair, Clemson may have had a down week, but it’s weird to see the Tigers still at No. 2 after their mediocre showing against Auburn. Florida State pummeled a better SEC West team in Ole Miss than the one Clemson survived against in Auburn.
Clemson may have the most talented roster in the country, but Florida State played championship caliber football in the second half against the Rebels to win in Orlando. It’ll all get settled out once they play each other, but Florida State was more impressive than Clemson was in Week 2.
