2. How did Alabama not get every first-place vote?

Not to hate on Clemson too much this week, but who gave the Tigers their two first-place votes? Both should have gone to the Alabama Crimson Tide, who completely massacred the USC Trojans in Arlington on Saturday night.

Alabama looked like the best team in the nation on Saturday, and it wasn’t particularly close. The Crimson Tide were expected to beat USC handedly, but not by 46 points at a neutral-site. This could have more to do with a few coaches think USC was grossly overrated, as the Trojans probably were.

Clemson getting two first-place votes has to do more with a few coaches thinking about what the Tigers could do versus what they did in Auburn on Saturday. Though Alabama should have garnered all 64 first-place votes in the Amway Coaches Poll, there were at least three programs more deserving of one than Clemson: Florida State, Ohio State, and Michigan.

Truth be told, Alabama doesn’t care that its Week 2 reign atop the Amway Coaches Poll wasn’t unanimous. The Crimson Tide settle all their problems on the gridiron through a physical and well-disciplined game plan.
